Every other year the Minnesota State Organization honors a Minnesota author with the Jeanette Fair Memorial Book Award. The award alternates between an adult book author and a children's book author. An children's book author will be honored at the 2025 state convention. Click here for more information.
Scholarships and Grants
The state scholarship committee has worked hard to create a variety of grants to assist MN State members in their educational endeavors. Applications are now being accepted for the three grants described below.
Mini-Grants: Are awarded twice a year, October 1st and February 1st, in amounts up to $500.

- The Special Projects Grant is awarded to DKG members for educational projects. A recipient may re-apply for a second-year grant to complete or extend a project.
- The Membership Mini-Grant is awarded to DKG members for personal growth/educational opportunities to help defray expenses incurred.
- The Bernice Gestie Education Grant is awarded to non-member female early career educators to help defray expenses incurred during the first five (5) years of her career. Recipients will also receive a one-year membership to Minnesota DKG.

The Minnesota State Organization of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International will award a $1,000 Education Grant to a woman who is enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education, majoring in the field of education, and planning on entering the teaching profession. The DKG Society promotes women and excellence in education. The deadline for this grant is January 15th.

PURPOSE OF THE SCHOLARSHIP
The DKG Society promotes women exhibiting excellence in education. The MN State Organization of the DKG Society International will award a $4,000 Birdella M. Ross Scholarship to a member who is pursuing a post-baccalaureate degree or licensure. The scholarship may be for a graduate degree, licensure or for travel credit. It may be awarded annually. QUALIFICATIONS Eligible applicants have belonged to DKG Society International of MN State Organization for at least two years and are pursuing a post-baccalaureate degree or licensure. APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURES The completed application form and recommendations must be submitted to the Birdella M. Ross Scholarship Committee Chair by February 15th. This information is on the attached application. The committee will carefully consider all applications and will notify all applicants of the results. Recipients will be honored in the Convention Program Booklet, the North Star News, and on the MN State Organization Website. The Scholarship money will be paid directly to the applicant at the spring MN State Organization Convention Birthday Luncheon.

Birdella M. Ross was a charter member of Alpha Chapter in 1939. She was MN State President from 1940 - 1944, as well as holding other state offices. She also held significant offices at the regional and national levels. She organized and helped to orient 22 chapters.
Birdella was an extraordinarily capable woman with a gracious personality. The Minneapolis Star - October 14, 1940
